Duke Dominates Maine in Blowout Victory, 96-62
Durham, NC - The Duke Blue Devils showcased their dominance on Tuesday night, cruising past the University of Maine Black Bears with a resounding 96-62 victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium. The Blue Devils' offensive firepower proved too much for the overmatched Black Bears, who struggled to keep pace throughout the contest.
Duke's Offensive Explosion
The Blue Devils' offense was on fire from the outset, shooting a blistering 57.7% from the field and knocking down 14 three-pointers. Kyle Filipowski led the scoring charge with a game-high 20 points, showcasing his impressive skillset with a mix of inside scoring and perimeter shooting.
Tyrese Proctor provided a spark off the bench, contributing 17 points and 6 assists, while Jeremy Roach added 14 points and 5 assists. Mark Mitchell also impressed, chipping in 13 points and 6 rebounds.
"We came out with a lot of energy and played really well as a team," said Filipowski after the game. "We moved the ball well, shared the ball, and everyone contributed."
Maine Struggles to Keep Up
Despite their valiant effort, the Black Bears were simply outmatched by the Blue Devils' superior talent and athleticism. They shot a dismal 36.1% from the field and were outrebounded 47-28.
"We knew coming in that Duke was a really talented team," said Maine head coach Richard Barron. "We didn't play our best tonight, but we learned a lot from this experience."
Gideon George led the Black Bears with 14 points, while Peter Filipowski added 12 points and 5 rebounds.
