VIDEO: Start GP São Paulo: Norris Loses Out, Verstappen Takes the Lead
The Brazilian Grand Prix kicked off with a thrilling start, but it wasn't all good news for Lando Norris. The McLaren driver, who had started in second place, lost out in the opening lap to Max Verstappen. The Red Bull driver, who had started on pole position, maintained his lead into Turn 1, leaving Norris to settle for second.
The video footage of the start clearly shows the intense battle between the two drivers. Verstappen, with a strong launch off the line, was able to overtake Norris before the first corner. The McLaren driver tried to defend his position, but Verstappen's superior pace was simply too much to handle.
The start was not without incident either. George Russell, who started in third place, was forced to take evasive action after Sergio Perez lost control of his Red Bull. The incident, thankfully, did not lead to any major damage or safety car period.
The opening lap saw several other exciting battles throughout the grid. Carlos Sainz, who started in fifth, gained a position on Lewis Hamilton, while Fernando Alonso and Pierre Gasly also made early progress.
With Verstappen leading and Norris in second, the Brazilian Grand Prix is set up for an intense race. Will Norris be able to close the gap on Verstappen, or will the Red Bull driver cruise to victory?
